Hello,

My name is Guillaume.
I am a French student currently studying Applied Languages (English and German) at the university in Paris. My aim is to become a translator. Before that, I have to gain experience and need to perform an internship to complete my curriculum. This internship should last between 6 weeks and 2 months this summer.

Since I worked in Germany last year, I am now looking for a job opportunity in an English-speaking country (preferably England or Ireland). I would like to do this internship in a translation agency or with translators.

I know it is difficult to ask for payment when you do not have much experience, but what I wish is:

- a job that would enable me to practice my English and gather experience

- if possible some sort of compensation that would enable me to make a living during my stay abroad.

Any idea, tips and suggestion would be welcome.

I am ready to send my CV to whoever might be interested in hiring me.

Many thanks in advance.

Dear Guillaume,

I would like to tell you a little about the UN internships (here; https://careers.un.org/lbw/home.aspx?viewtype=SJ&vacancy=All or here; https://careers.un.org/lbw/home.aspx?viewtype=ip)

The also have a YPP program and you can check it here https://careers.un.org/lbw/home.aspx?viewtype=NCEA

Here they need a French - English translator https://jobs.undp.org/cj_view_job.cfm?cur_job_id=67492

You should know that for the UN internships they provide no salary and it is usually for 2 months but can be extended to 6 months. you can create an account (it takes 2 hours) and write a cover letter to apply for the internships that suit you.

I have been accepted into a translation internship and I will be going by 2 July until 1st September. A senior adviser called me and asked me to talk about myself. Then, she asked me for a suitable time to send me 2 paragraphs to translate. after 15 minutes, she called back and asked me to read my translation.

I will write about my experience here once I am there. I hope this was useful for you.

Thanks
Fadwa
