T�tulo: la localizaci�n de software
�Qu� es la localizaci�n de software? Es el proceso de adaptaci�n de un producto de software, durante su proceso de traducci�n, al mercado para el que est� destinado dicho producto. Y de esta definici�n se desprende que se trata de algo m�s que de una mera traducci�n. El funcionalismo alem�n (Nord) y otros muchos autores hacen tambi�n referencia a la adaptaci�n cultural y funcional, pero en nuestro caso y campo de aplicaci�n consideramos tambi�n criterios t�cnicos y comerciales. La traducci�n de software requiere, adem�s del conocimiento espec�fico de la lengua, del desarrollo de un proceso t�cnico y del empleo de herramientas muy espec�ficas. La interrelaci�n y la dependencia de los distintos componentes de un producto entre s� (como por ejemplo la interfaz de usuario, la ayuda on-line o la documentaci�n escrita del en cuesti�n) plantean una serie de exigencias en la gesti�n del flujo de trabajo. Para que el producto tenga validez en el entorno al que va dirigido se tienen que realizar tambi�n adaptaciones de, por ejemplo, las dimensiones de las ventanas de presentaci�n y la disposici�n de las mismas dentro del conjunto.
La localizaci�n del software, adem�s, requiere de un tratamiento diferente en funci�n del tipo de programa a traducir, lo que nos lleva a proponer una tipolog�a determinada seg�n se trate de sistemas operativos o bien de programas did�cticos, de entretenimiento, etc.
