Bio

Eike has been working as a translator since 2007. He holds a BA magna cum laude in Literature from Harvard University with an honors thesis on translation issues in audiovisual media, and an MA and PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Southern California, where he wrote a dissertation on the translation of American comic strips into Japanese during the 1920s and 1930s. Some of Eike's published work can be found in the International Journal of Comic Art, ImageText, and the forthcoming anthology The Comics World (University Press of Mississippi).

The majority of Eike's work as a translator consists of translations from Japanese into English and German, though he also translates between the latter two languages. His translation work includes patents; legal, marketing, and business documents; video and cell phone games; magazine articles; scholarly writing; and more. He also does transcription and subtitling work.
