Les Pouilles, ou le coeur de la Méditerranée.
Un rôle indiscutible favorisé par cette region qui est le veritable pont vers l'Orient et vers des civilizations qui depuis des temps très anciens, l'a fait une terre d'une importance determinante dans l'ihistoire italienne et méditerranéenne, un carrefour des civilisations et des cultures qui se sont installées ici.
Les Pouilles, aujourd'hui plus qu'avant représentent une terre de rencontre et d'échange ouverte sur l'Orient et sur l'Occident, une terre de frontière òu les cultures, les ethnies et les langues se mêlent et amalgament pour former une seule civilisation, la civilisation méditerranéenne dont notre région est redevenue le premier porte-parole depuis longtemps. Se répproprier ce rôle ancien et fondamental signifie regarder vers l'avenir, s'ouvrir nécessairement à la realité transculturelle pour arriver à se preparer aux grands événements européens et internationaux.
Forte de ce rôle, les Pouilles ne veulent plus être une région de passage rapide ou de vacances saisonnières et ne veulent être plus seulement terre de mer et de soleil, mais aussi berceau de covilisations et gardien de trésors inestimables. Voyager dans les Pouilles signifie avoir la possibilité de retrouver des traces et des monuments appartenent à chaque époque; un voyage idéal pour les amateurs de l'art, de l'histoire e des témoignages des civilisations du passé qui dans les Pouilles se sont croisées nombreauses.
Ces cultures de l'Orient et de l'Occident qui ont modelé au fil des siècles l'identité et l'aspect de la civilisation apoulienne, carrefour entre deux mondes. Des racines anciennes qui constituent la force d'un project très moderne, fortement attachée à la Méditerranée et déjà tournée vers l'Europe.

Riappropriarsi di questo antico e fondamentale ruolo significa guardare al futuro, aprirsi alla necessaria realtà transculturale arrivando preparati ai grandi appuntamenti europei e internazionali.
Forte di questo ruolo la Puglia intende proporsi oltre il passaggio frettoloso o la sosta stagionale; non soltanto, dunque, come terra di mare e di sole, ma anche come culla di civiltà e custode di tesori inestimabili. Viaggiare in Puglia significa avere la possibilità di ritrovare segni di monumenti di ogni epoca; un viaggio ideale per chi ami l'arte, la storia e le testimonianze delle civiltà del passato che in Puglia si sono incrociate numerose. Quelle culture di Oriente e di Occidente che hanno plasmato nel corso dei secoli l'identità ed il volto della civiltà pugliese, crocevia tra due mondi. Radici antiche che costituiscono la forza di una progettualità modernissima, saldamente ancorata al Mediterraneo e già protesa verso l'Europa.

Puglia is Italy's ascendant region, a place where savvy travelers bored or worn down by the crowns of Campania and Tuscany escape for something a bit less frenetic and manicured. Top of the list for prospective newcomers is the food. Puglia's cucina povera is about as earthy as Italian cuisine gets without eating it straight out of the soil. Then there's the exuberant architecture, best summarised by the word 'baroque' and exhibited in all its finery in the glittering 'Florence of the South', Lecce, and its smaller sibling Gallipoli.
With the longest coastline of any region in mainland Italy, Puglia is larger than many people realise. In the North, the spur of land sticking out into the Adriatic is occupied by the balmy microclimates of the Gargano peninsula, a kind of miniature Amalfi with fewer poseurs. The Italian boot's 'stiletto' hosts the land of Salento, a dry scrubby region famous for its wines, and bloodthirsty Greek and Turkish history. In between lies the Valle d'Itria, a karstic depression populated by vastly contrasting medieval towns that have little in common apart from their haunting beauty.
Of the larger cities, Brindisi, an erstwhile Roman settlement, is one of the major departure points for Greece (by ferry), while Puglia's largest metropolis, Bari has a university and trendier inclinations.

Primo della lista per i potenziali nuovi arrivati è il cibo. La "cucina povera" della Puglia è così "terrena" come mangiare la cucina italiana direttamente dal suolo. Poi c'è l'architettura esuberante, meglio riassunta dalla parola "barocco" e manifestata in tutto il suo sfarzo nella scintillante "Florence of the
South" ("Firenze del Sud"), Lecce e la sua sorellina Gallipoli.
Con la costa più lunga di ogni regione della penisola italiana, la Puglia è più grande di quanto molte persone pensino. A nord lo sperone di terra che sporge nell'Adriatico è occupato dal clima mite del promontorio del Gargano, una specie di Amalfi in miniatura con pochi posatori. Lo stivale italiano "stiletto" ospita la terra del Salento, una regione secca e misera famosa per i suoi vini e la sanguinaria storia greca e turca. In mezzo si trova la Valle d'Itria, una depressione carsica popolata da città medievali molto contrastanti che hanno poco in comune a parte la loro ossessionante bellezza. Delle grandi città, Brindisi, un vecchio insediamento romano, è uno dei maggiori punti di partenza per la Grecia (in traghetto), mentre la più grande metropoli della Puglia, Bari ha un'università e inclinazioni più alla moda.
