Léon Ingber, Directeur de cette mise à jour, était Assistant de cours du temps de mes études à l'ULB, bien avant d'en devenir le Doyen de la Faculté de droit.
ULB : Université Libre de Bruxelles :-)
Assistant, un titre qui a aussi évolué au fil du temps ...
Au passage, je signale que, sauf Professeur et Doyen, les titres universitaires ne sont pas les mêmes en Belgique qu'en France.
Ceci au cas où l'un de vous aurait à traduire un texte d'origine belge ...

Du temps perdu pour l'une comme pour l'autre mais ces références pourront être utiles à l'un ou l'autre d'entre vous, un jour ou l'autre.

Sorry, this was for a poorly managed job that was double the number of estimated words, so I barely had time to breathe, much less research abbreviations in the footnotes. It was a legal treatise on delivery of goods sold. After I sent it off, they told me I didn't need to do these footnotes! Anyway, I believe Alison's suggestion is correct.

Anvers = Antwerpen en flamand / néerlandais et Antwerp en anglais
Mons = Bergen en flamand / néerlandais, en anglais ; Mons ou Bergen (Belgium), si traduit, ne pas oublier le (Belgium).
Wikipedia garde le nom de Mons sur sa page en anglais.
J.P. : Justice de paix
J.J.P. : Journal des juges de paix et de la police
J.T. : Journal des Tribunaux

Jeanne, You do not say what searches you have done already, so we might be repeating what you have already done and ruled out. It is helpful to say what research you have undertaken. Indeed, I think when you psot a question it is suggested that you to have done so before posting.

My Google search gave a number of hits, including the one posted by Alison. The format of the reference mathces so it makes sense that it is the same.

I suspect that this ought not to be translated of course as it appears to be part of a reference system. Once translated, the reference is no longer the same and thus useless should someone need to track it down. The original has to remain in there somewhere of course.

Can you clarify what you mean by a bibliographical footnote? Your question is headed Law, so is it a reference to a legal journal in some kind of legal reasoning or textbook? And what branch of law is this?
