French term

en voie de collection

French to English Medical Medical (general) imaging report
Petite plage hypodense de 15mm médiastino-hilaire en voie de collection.

Réévaluation à trois semaines d'une pneumopathie en voie de collection, chez un patient immunodéprimé pour chimiothérapie.

Also appears as en cours de collection.

Presumably "not yet filled with fluid, but getting there"! Unsure whether we make this distinction in English vs. , and whether there is a nice neat way of expressing it.

My current proposal "...hypodense/hyperattenuated area with some fluid content".

Discussion

Wendy Cummings (asker) Jul 19, 2022:
CT scan/analysis It appears in a CT scan report. There were some BAL samples sent for analysis, but I don't think that refers to these particular phrases.
Lara Barnett Jul 19, 2022:
@ Wendy Could this possibly be concerning a specimen set for collection?

with deposits present

This sentence does not specify what the collection is, so maybe you should be equally as general in your translation. We can never assume without sufficient context.

Although one of my examples uses "fibrin deposits", we could just take the term deposits used here.
Example sentence:

"Empyema can worsen to become many more pockets of pus, with thick deposits coating the outer layer of the lungs."

"Fibrin deposits in the alveoli are common."

Note from asker:
I agree with the suggestion of remaining general, but I've never seen "collection" used for anything other than fluid. Can you provide any examples to the contrary?
Peer comment(s):

disagree Drmanu49 : "collection" in French is only used for fluids.
