Italian term

compendio

Italian to English Other Law (general)
I'm translating a sentenza penale.

It involves fraud and receiving stolen goods. At the beginning it lists the "beni di provenienza delittuosa", which includes:

...lotti di materiale informatico compendio del delitto di truffa perpetrato in danno a...

I'm unsure as to what compendio means here. Can anybody help?

Thanks

martini Ok, grazie. Pubblica la risposta cosi l'autore del quesito la vede meglio
PS: certo che gli costava molto all'autore dell'atto di aggiungere dieci lettere di aggettivo :)
Juliet Halewood (X) (asker) Mar 2, 2023:
Thanks, but it's definitely compendio, it appears several times
martini Mar 2, 2023:
non è odd v. compendio probatorio / indiziario; immagino si intenda "insieme delle prove"
https://www.proz.com/kudoz/italian-to-german/law-general/629...
https://www.proz.com/kudoz/italian-to-russian/law-general/41...
in entrambe le risposte si parla di prove
FPC Mar 2, 2023:
It's odd "compendio" could mean a lot , an estate in addition to the usual meaning of summary or collection of information. But "compendio del delitto" sounds odd. It looks like they mean the lot of illicitly obtained property/goods (loot). In the sense the end result or outcome of the fraud.

Or could it be a typo for "compenso"?

Inventory

This might summarize the idea. Maybe something like:

"detailed inventory of stolen/fraudulent/illicit (or whatever) goods..."

Inventory
1. a complete listing of merchandise or stock on hand, work in progress, raw materials, finished goods on hand, etc., made each year by a business concern.
2. the objects or items represented on such a list, as a merchant's stock of goods.
3. the aggregate value of a stock of goods.

Example sentence:

"Police say inquiries are continuing to establish the FULL INVENTORY of stolen goods and their value."

" 'They seemed to know what they were coming for,' said Cllr Jolley who has been busy preparing an INVENTORY OF STOLEN goods."

Peer comment(s):

neutral Angie Garbarino : It does not actually work in this context.

Italian term (edited): materiale informatico compendio

a digest of data information (abstracted or BrE: collated)

> perhaps pull the word back to the IT info., so a 'compendious' digest of the data on the criminal offenc/ses, rather than forwards to the delitto di truffa perpetrato : the criminal offenc/se of the fraud perpetrated / flanker or stroke pulled.

Compendio: abstract or digest, Garzanti.

PS an ex-London Met / Surrey Police Officer turned Private Investigator in my family used to refer to the UK police slang of 'collators' clocking up, not only a series of offences, but written police cautions, plus incidents of 'helping police with their enquiries'.
Example sentence:

IATE : it compendio COM en abstract COM summary

Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : You can't say "data information".
