To asker: “business development” is a much more general term referring to activity undertaken to grow sales. A business introducer introduces potential new clients, usually for some benefit in return (often a fee or commission, sometimes introductions in the other direction).
I’m absolutely confident this is the correct term in a UK context; I’ve seen and used it myself in the corporate world.
Thanks. is this the same as business development? |

: The definition from the UK adds the following: Introducers are often partner firms that a supplier works with regularly, such as accountancy firms, law firms, or others.

: In a general way, yes. But when applied to finding people who need loans doesn't sound quite right.// Would you call estate agents "business introducers" (as in "introducing business" to house sellers)?? You surely should, if you apply the same logic ...

No, because it's a B2B term, and house sellers are usually private individuals. But when an estate agent refers a client to a mortgage lender or even a mortgage broker, that lender or broker would refer to the estate agent as a business introducer.

Having been born pre-UK 1974 Consumer Credit Act, I cannot recall any otiose reference to a wider business development scene.

Credit referral agent, Lending Referral Agent
Law Insider... **Referral Agent **means a person or entity who identifies and refers an Applicant to a **lender **or a lender to an Applicant. The Referral Agent may be employed and compensated by either an Applicant or a lender. (much more at Insider but have to have membership to copy,,,if this continues soon one will not be able to copy anything).
practicaladultinsights A referral agent is a person who makes money by referring customers or clients to a business or individual who can meet their needs. For example, a person who sells mobile homes may want to secure more prospects interested in buying mobile homes. One of the ways he might accomplish this is by working with an agent who refers prospects to him for a fee. In some cases, a referral agent may receive a fee for every reasonable prospect he refers, while others may receive compensation each time the recipient of the referrals makes a sale.

: It's about loans, not sales - some of them may be for purchases, but hardly for sales// problem with "sales agent" is that it immediately suggests the sale of houses, land, domestic appliances etc., not loans; & omission of "customer" makes for confusion

credit provider (australia usa)

Discussion
Does this apply here, do you know?
And if so, is the "apporteur" the equivalent of Anglian, introducing me to GE Finance?
Or is the apporteur some third party, introducing Anglian to GE Finance (still 'en matiere' of consumer credit since it'll be people like me borrowing the actual money)?
Or is it a straightforward A introducing B (consumer) to C so B can borrow from C?
- a second-hand car dealer "helping" car buyers to get loans at extortionate rates from their "preferred" car finance lender,
- anyone whose own clients might need loans and is always ready to "recommend" a lender.
a person who generates income for a business or organization by brokering deals or attracting clients or funds.
