Gastro-intestinal Tract:
The tongue, mouth and pharynx were unremarkable.
The oesophagus was normal.
The stomach contained a small amount of liquid blood but the mucosal surface was normal.
The small bowel showed evidence of disruption and there was haemorrhage within the mesentery.

Central Nervous System:
The brain showed evidence of subdural and subarachnoid haemorrhage over both hemispheres.
There was marked disruption of the left temporal lobe and the left parietal lobe.

Clinicopathological Correlation:
Post mortem examination of this 35 year old male revealed significant recent injuries internally and externally with lacerations to multiple organs and disruption largely within the left cerebral cortex of the brain.
