The singles and two-ply yarn torsional models developed respectively in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 are evaluated in this chapter. In order to verify the yarn models’ applicability of predicting the torsional properties of the yarns which involve large amount of lateral fibre movement during yarn deformation, a sample of medium twist woollen spun carpet yarns was
chosen for the torsional test. ***The yarn torque rotation relationship was determined experimentally and the results were compared with the theoretical results based on the models.***
The input of the models include the parameters of fibre properties and yarn structure.
