Norwegian term

kilesportrekkemaskin

Norwegian to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering
A tool or machine used in a machine shop, probably for cutting a groove or slot for a key? At this point, it's more the "trekkemaskin" part that has me stalled, but I do need the entire correct English term if you have it.

keyway-milling machine

Wonder if this is what you're after?
Example sentence:

"a metal-cutting machine tool for cutting sunk keyways of uniform cross section or Woodruff keyways in shafts." from the reference given

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks. I'm picking this one on the basis of more English language corroboration for keyway + milling + machine than for key + groove + drawing + machine. I'm going to use it without the hyphen. Note the alternative "keyway cutting and milling machine" is out there as well, but with fewer Google hits."

track drawing machine

There are plenty of wire drawing machines, but I am not so sure about a "track drawing machine". Found one manufactured in China though, see ref.

However, I found a translation for trekkemaskin:
"Disse maskinene kalles av og til ”prøvestrekkemaskiner” (”sample drawing machines”) for kontroll af fremstillingsprosessen" http://www.toll.no/upload/tolltariffen/kommentarer/kom84-200...
Peer comment(s):

disagree Roald Toskedal : I'm sorry, but this doesn't appear to be the 'critter' in question. "Kilespor" would be "Machine key groove", but I haven't found refereces to any machine for 'carving' them...

Well, you know, having 'battled' with my fair share of machine keys and their grooves over the years, I knew immediately to what this contraption had to be related.
I've never heard of 'drawing' grooves though, but evidently that's one of its applications... :)
Example sentence:

The solution to this problem was found in the hydraulic groove drawing machine.

Note from asker:
Thanks -- I think you've run this critter to ground! ". . . the technician is provided with an interesting range of machines the scope of which bears little resemblance to that of their forerunners." And the translator is confronted with a term that bears scant resemblance to what has been used previously. :-)
Thanks again for your help. In the end, I decided that the description by Leistritz might be influenced by the company's German origin.
