I was being more literal, and I believe that applicability (which is the quality of being applicable) is not incorrect here, as you have also pointed out. Philippe has a point though when he talks about the preposition "to". I'm not native and you very well explained that the other uses with "applications" sound more natural in English. ut again, the word "applicability" is acceptable and is very much used in science contexts.

applicability came indeed first to mind, however it brings the disadvantage of having to use the preposition 'to' which is not elegant in front of the word environment (sounds like bad english), which is the reason i prefer 'environmental applications' which is standard in Environmental Sciences literature.

Applicability Both Philippe's and Ed's use of 'application' sounds very natural in English. If you wanted to use 'applicability' your sentence should look more like Magalí's, which is also acceptable.

Applicability of infrared thermography in the environment

Hola:

En el original que pusiste dice: "en el medio ambiente" aunque en la frase para el término original pusiste "al medio ambiente". Mi opción está basada en el contexto que nos diste, pero tú puedes ajustarla como te parece. Para mí la opción que te doy es la que más se ajusta a tu original.
