Rector (Magnífico) Chancellor / Vice-Chancellor / Rector
Creator: | |
Language pair: | Spanish to English |
Definition / notes: | This is a rather problematic term as Spanish universities don't have a figurehead who isn't a member of the teaching staff (ie the Chancellor). However, the "Rector" is the most senior member of the university. The word "Rector" in English has clergical connotations but is used in academia also. The "Rector Magnífico" and the "Rector" appear to be one and the same person. http://www.um.es/estructura/equipo/rectorado/index.php http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rector_%28academia%29 |
