English to Danish: Types of genetic diseases
Source text - English
Each human is estimated to have approximately 20,000 to 25,000 genes. Alterations in these genes, or in combinations of them, can produce genetic disorders.
These disorders are classified into several major groups:
1. Chromosome disorders, in which entire chromosomes (or large segments of them) are missing, duplicated, or otherwise altered. These disorders include diseases such as Down syndrome and Turner syndrome.
2. Disorders in which single genes are altered; these are often termed "mendelian" conditions, or single-gene disorders. Well-known examples include cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, and hemophilia.
3. Multifactorial disorders, which result from a combination of multiple genetic and environmental causes. Many birth defects, such as cleft lip and/or cleft palate, as well as many adult disorders, including heart disease and diabetes, belong in this category.
4. Mitochondrial disorders, a relatively small number of diseases caused by alterations in the small cytoplasmic mitochondrial chromosome.

Bio
My name is Julie Rohde, I am 27 years old and, besides translating, I study architecture at School of Architecture in Aarhus, Denmark.

I have been translating for a few years now, and I am enjoying the job very much.

I primarily translate from English to Danish, but have done quite a bit of Nor-Dan translations as well.

Accuracy, integrity and punctuality are the first objectives in my work. Architecture school and my past as a tourist guide is a good help for me, when I do translations in those fields, but I also have a very good knowledge of the Danish language, which is essential in order to make the translations correct and fluent.
