剛性衝撃装置は、直径50±2㎜の水平円筒と直径19±1㎜の振り子支持アームから成る。(図１）
円筒は、計器および円筒内のすべての支持アームの部分を含めて質量が1.25±0.02kgである。
振り子アームは、質量が285±5ｇである。支持アームを取り付ける軸の回転部分の質量は100ｇ以下
とすること。
衝撃円筒の中央水平軸と振り子全体の回転軸の間の距離は、1,250±1㎜とする。
衝撃円筒は、その縦軸が水平で、衝撃方向に対して垂直になるよう取り付ける。
振り子アームの縦中心線が衝突時に垂直線から1°の範囲にくるように、剛性水平台に載せた
踵の基部から185±2㎜離れた足部の下部に振り子が衝突するものとする。
衝撃装置は、大きな左右、上下または回転運動がないように誘導するものとする。
