Something is really bothering me lately about KudoZ. I'm really into it, and I love to suggest solutions. Most of the time, I do some research and post references. However, I hardly ever post anything with level 5 (absolutely sure - I know it), because obviously, not having the whole context in hands, one can hardly ever be absolutely sure about anything, even if it's as simple as "my house".

However, I hardly ever post anything with level 5 (absolutely sure - I know it), because obviously, not having the whole context in hands, one can hardly ever be absolutely sure about anything, even if it's as simple as "my house".
Nevertheless, there are certain "point eaters" who are constantly doing the following:
1) Move around all posts and choose the ones with answers without any bronieZ
2) Change a few syllables or the order of the words in the answer that looks more accurate and post it again, at least one level above the previous poster (that is, level 5, if the answerer posted level 4).
3) Post no references at all, but write something to make it look like he/she is sure about it.
That way, the person "steals" someone else's answer without any effort at all, then his/her post is listed on top of the answer list, as the level of certainty is higher. Finally, many people award brownieZ to that answer, because it calls more attention.
Of course, if that person posts references and explanations, and the former one didn't, then it's a different story.
My intent here is to WARN KudoZ users and participants, when there are similar answers, to ALWAYS:
1) Verify who posted FIRST and preferably with references.
2) If you are the asker, no matter how many brownieZ the person has, also verify who posted FIRST and who did some research and posted a reference.
KudoZ points are very important when outsourcers look for a translator. "Stealing" points this way (and through many other techniques that are in place) is practically stealing one's money.
So BE CONSCIOUS when awarding brownieZ, and above all when choosing the correct answer to go to the Glossary.

I also notice that sometime wrong words are entered in the glossary. But what should I do if I give Kudos points to the wrong answer and later want to take it back to give to another answerer.

The last time I posted an answer to a KudoZ question, some jackass posted an extremely insulting comment under my answer, then immediately deleted it. I still saw it though, because the KudoZ notifications that come to my email inbox have the comment text at the time it was entered, even if you delete it later.
And...that was the last time I participated in KudoZ. I really don't care if it improves my directory rankings, I'm not going to be insulted for trying to help someone. F*** ... This can be done, if, and only if the person who received the points agrees to relinquish them.
I once awarded points by mistake, and the person who received them actually mailed me and asked if I meant it! We agreed that another answer was better, and the Moderator cancelled the points, so that I could award them to the right person.
But normally, once given, points cannot be taken back.
However, if you do not have someone unselfish enough to volunteer to give up the points, you can get the Moderator to ask anyway.
There is no real credit in points when someone else's answer is clearly better!
I am always so sad to see threads like this one, because in some language pairs at least, KudoZ is a real help where there are not so many resources and dictionaries.
I would still maintain that the great majority keep to the spirit of the rules and play fairly. They just don't post in the forums about it when everything is running smoothly!

Blind guesses by random people may be a pain, but it would be extremely bothersome and inconvenient for highly qualified specialists to need to explain basic issues in detail with references, especially if the asker struggles with syntax or style.
