English to French: Tips on leadership discussion General field: Bus/Financial Detailed field: Management
Source text - English “Good teaching requires courage — the courage to expose one’s ignorance as well as insight, to invite contradiction as well as consent, to yield some control in order to empower the group, to evoke other people’s lives as well as reveal one’s own.” – Parker J. Palmer
Your primary role as the discussion leader is to get your team talking about why and how
certain concepts apply to their team. As the discussion leader, your task is not so much to teach participants as it is to encourage learning through the sharing of experiences, challenges, questions, and points of view. You will likely find that you are also a member of the learning group, since leaders often learn as much from their team as the team learns from them. The following tips are intended to help you prepare for this unique role.

Source text - English There is no doubt that the year ahead will be a challenging year for your company. After many years of strong growth, the new year will see the markets for our geochemistry and coal services contract. I am not overly concerned as this downturn is simply part of a normal commodities cycle, and I know that we have the right teams and facilities in place to deal with any eventuality. I also know that we will fare much better than our competitors during these tougher times. I see the downturn as an opportunity, and as I have been saying for quite some time now, our challenge is to work smarter, reduce wastage and ensure we continue to “exceed client expectations”. We will remain focused on our long-term strategies that have seen your company prosper, grow and deliver career opportunities.

I lived 5 years in Buenos Aires and I have been living in Rome, Italy, for one year now.
I have been a freelance translator for more than FIVE years, translating different types of documents from English, Spanish and Italian into French: IT, law, tourism, international standards, marketing, business administration, decoration, etc. However, I feel able to accept many types of documents since I always spend time researching information about the field I will be translating about.
