For years I struggled with Magic mice temporarily losing connection. Maybe two seconds but absolutely irritating.

But sent it back to Amazon, I don't like Logitech stuff.
Some days ago I (re)discovered my external trackpad for my iMac. In combination with my MM it's just the perfect combo for me.

That’s how I started, years ago. The mouse constantly disconnected while the trackpad was connected.

No interference between MM and trackpad. The only downside of the trackpad is drag&drop, not very comfortable. One has to learn the 2-finger trick. But with two large monitors the trackpad is just great.

What issue do you experience with drag&drop? I just tap 2 times and hold on an object and then drag it into place. I've also adjusted the responsiveness of the trackpad to be very responsive, so I don't have to tap too hard.
The gestures are very useful. With dozens of tabs open, I just swipe left or right with two fingers to find the one I need. Same with 3 fingers for going back to a previous page or forward to the following page.
Zoom and rotate gestures are also helpful for images.

With such a large desktop and one finger for moving I cannot cover the whole real estate and I would have to pause in between drag&drop moves, so I put the thumb on the pad to keep the object selected and I continue dragging with my forefinger.
My trackpad is set to „Tap (once) to click„, and I use the gestures, too, of course. Mine is trackpad generation 1 which does not allow the setting of the responsiveness/sensitivity.

Responsiveness is the cursor speed/acceleration you can set - I use the highest speed, but it's not for everyone. Something that also plays a role in sensitivity is skin moisture, so if you have very dry skin it helps to moisten your fingers from time to time.
I don't know the generation, but mine is an 10+ years old battery-powered Bluetooth trackpad with rechargeable batteries.
