I have been asked to quote on translating a complete website.
I am wondering what the best way would be to quote on this. I normally quote a rate per word source text, but the total amount is a bit of a mystery, unless one would go into every page and sub page of the website, which does not seem to a be a sensible thing to do.
Is software available to do a word count on web sites? Or are there any other clever ways to deal with this.

I thought that, apart from the country/language specific fora, the working language on ProZ.com was English. Therefore could you please enlighten us as to what you are writing in your message? Thanks.

In doing websites one can go through the whole thing and copy all the text into an MSWord file then count it.
I have found it to be easier and safer to have the client do all this and then send it to me. That way they do all that work and moreover if they miss something (which they have), then it is for an extra charge, whereas if you miss it they'll try to stick you with it.
So just have the client send you the entire text in an MSWord file then count it.
