New entries don't overwrite existing ones in TM ("roles" are deactivated in TM settings)

I am working as the only translator in a small company. Whenever I correct or update any existing translations (translated previously by myself) I get a new entry in TM (error of "multiple extact/content matches") and have to manually delete the old one which is very time consuming. In TM settings, the tab "Storing roles in the TM" is not selected. In fact, if I open the TM entry to edit it I can see that no role has been stored.

Is there anything I can do to solve this?
