I would like some help translating this quote, which appears in a preface to a book. Also, if anyone is familiar with the context of this quote, that would be useful as well.
خفف الوطء ما اظن اديم الارض الا من هذه الاجساد
This quote appears at the end of a section discussing the insignificance of humankind and is followed by a quote from sura Al-Isra, verse 37.

أحمد رامي عن الخيام يجزم بحرف جازم أن هذا التراب ما هو إلا أجساد حسان ساحرات الإحورار فترفقوا به.

or the surface of the earth, the first is smoother and poetic.
I do think the poet does believe, but he feels "as it were". please read the above line of poetry of Ahamad Rami who really believes.......
أديم الأرض: سطحها
ثم يقول لك أيها الحافظ لتراث أبائه وأجداده ألا يجدر بك أن تحترم رفاتهم وتقدر بقاياهم فقبيح بك أن تهينهم و إن طال العهد ,,, وأقل ذلك أن تخفف من وطئك على الأرض فلا أظن ترابها إلا من أجساد أسلافك الذين سبقوك :
