Russian term
и за них мы вышли замуж
Russian to English
Art/Literary
Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Доброго времени суток.
И за них мы вышли замуж. Смысл фразы - и как мы могли за них выйти?
В английском такой смысл интонацией передается или надо как-то через how could...?
Спасибо.

and these are the men we married
Don't see any problem for this to be uttered sarcastically

some wives do 'ave 'em (some wives do have them)
Это вариация названия британского юмористического сериала "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em". Смысл именно такой - как их угораздило? Жители Альбиона поймут.

Look who we went and married!
You can do it with intonation, but if you need to put it in writing, this would be an option. Yes, "whom" would be grammatically correct, but this is colloquial speech.
Or, depending on what comes before:
"How could we ever have married these guys?!"

"How could we ever have married these guys?!"

And those are the ones we got married to...
just another variety...
all the other suggestions are equally valid possibilities, I've just been playing about with the presumable tone of voice in Russian and then in English for a while, and to me, this version in English sounds just right.
It's a matter of ... feeling ...
