Spanish term
feria de rarezas

This is Argentine artist Diego Bianchi describing a show of his. I actually saw it from the early 2000s. My inclination would be "freak show" but "feria de rarezas" is not the usual translation of freak show into Spanish. The artist says
"cabinet of oddities"?? (the cabinet tradition is longstanding in art)
Thanks

cabinet of curiosities
My take on it

Cabinets of curiosities (also known in German loanwords as Kunstkabinett, Kunstkammer or Wunderkammer; also Cabinets of Wonder, and wonder-rooms) were collections of notable objects. The term cabinet originally described a room rather than a piece of furniture. Modern terminology would categorize the objects included as belonging to natural history (sometimes faked), geology, ethnography, archaeology, religious or historical relics, works of art (including cabinet paintings), and antiquities. The classic cabinet of curiosities emerged in the sixteenth century, although more rudimentary collections had existed earlier. In addition to the most famous and best documented cabinets of rulers and aristocrats, members of the merchant class and early practitioners of science in Europe formed collections that were precursors to museums.

: No, not really; the source text describes this as a mini-exhibition in a (small) gallery

a minifair/mini-exhibition of odd-looking (artistic) artifacts
Or maybe just "odd-looking artwork". I thought the question was actually supposed to include "miniferia", based on the context you posted.

It seems that "cabinet" was used in the old, old days, while Diego Bianchi is a very contemporary artist.

I think odd-looking artwork might cause some laughs.

Simone Taylor
: Perhaps oddities or rare objects ? I agree Cabinet of curiosities was mainly a term brought to England by Queen Caroline of Ansbach who was famous for having one. It is no longer used nowadays.
