Czech term

Vedoucí zákazky

Czech to English Bus/Financial Human Resources Employment contract, management terminology
This is from a sentence in a Czech employment contract. I actually need help with translating the whole sentence, if possible:

Pokud je zaměstnanec pověřen vedením zakázky, podléhá v rozsahu nezávislé pozice Vedoucíco zakázky přímo provoznímu řediteli.

Thanks,

Stephen

Project Manager

I mean, we're not far off in English using this term... because we just don't say things like job manager,

I think the "zakazka" could be considered a project, (haven't seen the particular contract), and in that sense, project manager would probably match the spirit of the term and sit just fine with your client.
Anyway the translation would go something like this:

If the employee is responsible for managing a job order (project), such employee is directly subordinate to the director of operations within the scope of the independent position of Project Manager.

I have no problem with putting "project" in parenthesis for clarification...I don't consider it embellishing.

Elizabeth raised a good point, but I'd never turn this in as the 100% right term without having consulted with customer as to what the SCOPE is, and after a good kudoz exploration amongst the "proz"...

neutral Elizabeth Spacilova : Usually Czechs use "vedoucí projektu" or just PM...not knowing any additional information, IMO it would be safe to stick with something closer

it's a question and you raise a good point...It might be smaller jobs based on commissioning (paintings) - those are commissions managers, question is, is a project limited by scope?.

Peer comment(s):

agree Elizabeth Spacilova : If no job description is on hand, this is the safe bet. "If the employee is placed in charge of contract management, s/he holds the post of independent Contract Manager reporting directly to the Operations Director", I suppose.
