Refers to a movement which developed in Vienna in 1945 and which was strongly influenced in style by the paintings of the old masters Pieter Brueghel and Jan van Eyck. Works by this group combined highly stylized and refined paintings techniques with fantastic and mystical subjects. The founding members of this group were Ernst Fuchs, Wolfgang Hutter, Rudolf Hausner, Arik Brauer and Anton Lehmden.
