Raczej nie tłumaczyłbym tego jako "ulegały koalescencji", bo tu nie chodzi o to zjawisko fizykochemiczne.

Aby uniknąć powtórzenia słowa "tworząc", można przetłumaczyć "forming" jako "kształtując", "formując" lub "nadając kształt/formę"
Ewentualnie "to condense into planets" jako "formując planety".
Raczej nie tłumaczyłbym tego jako "ulegały koalescencji", bo tu nie chodzi o to zjawisko fizykochemiczne.
