Native Italian, I was born in Apulia, a sunny country situated in the South of Italy.
I have always been fascinated by Humanities right from my undergraduate college days. My educational background has instilled in me the qualities required to meet the rigor of this demanding field of study. My graduation in History of Philosophy equipped me with a strong foundation to comprehend the metaphysical framework of European thought. In my doctoral dissertation, I took up the study of Friedrich D.E. Schleiermacher, eminent classicist and theologian, who also provided a translation theory (On the Different Methods of Translation, 1813). This study resulted in a monograph (Una ontologia dialettica, 2007), as well as in many national and international articles with a focus on the foundation of his protestant theology, which is based on religious experience.
In my further academic research, I was involved in a project on the History of Ontology from the Early Modern Age up to German Idealism, which consolidated my understanding of the development of conceptual frames, and also improved my natural attitude to read and translate complex texts. This study of ontology has culminated in a collection of philosophical texts of the modern age (Filosofia moderna, 2006). At the University of Bari I became a member of the Editorial Board of Quaestio. Yearbook of the History of Metaphysics (Brepols-Pagina). During these years I also translated and edited several essays, conferences, and philosophical works from German into Italian.
After some research stays in Germany (Saarbrücken, Berlin, Freiburg i.B., Eichstätt) and Belgium (Louvain), I recently focussed on modern Augustinianism, with particular interest in the figure of Cornelius Jansenius, eminent interpreter of Augustine. I also translated several chapters of his monumental work entitled Augustinus from Latin into Italian.
As a passionate reader and translator, I am eager to improve my language skills and to prove myself in exploring new languages. Besides my previous translation experiences of philosophical matters, I am currently specializing myself in translating architecture essays from German into Italian, but also literature from Dutch into Italian.
I choose these words by St. Jerome, patron saint of translators, as a motto for my work: “Do not let your deeds belie your words”.
Parole chiave: German, Flemish, Latin into Italian. Translations, Editing, Proofreading. Literature, Philosophy, Architecture, Social Sciences, Religion, Arts.
