After my rant some months ago I have been working with memoQ today after quite some time - and today it makes it completely impossible to finish my work. The external TM does not accept any entries, and the popups for this error keep appearing even after closing the file. I can't synchronize. Even exporting to a file does not work, these options are greyed out.
I don't know how to deliver my file.

I disabled the firewall to see if that is the problem, as I work in my university network today, but there is no difference.

The only times I ever had any issues with MemoQ were when I worked on server projects. What's the exact error message? Can you search that TM, or you can't access it at all?
Sometimes it helps if you save the bilingual file (just to be safe), delete the local project and then check out the online project again. | | | Maija Cirule Letonia Local time: 09:51 Alemanatik Ingelesara + ... I run QA and checked all tags to no avail and the file sits in MemoQ up to now. I managed to export it as a bilingual file in RTF and thereafter converted it to monolingual txtx file.

I suspect there might be a problem with the server of the client - they are not responding to me emails, either. But even in this case I should be able to work on a project offline, with out error messages blocking the proper functioning of the software. or with client and Kilgray server connection. Working on client server sometimes is very tricky.
The problem with "But even in this case I should be able to work on a project offline, with out error messages blocking the proper functioning of the software" may be that you try to confirm the translated segments and MemoQ each time answers that it cannot perform the required action.

I'm afraid not... What you described does indeed sound as it's caused by issues with the client's server. In my experience, if I'm working on an online project (even with manual synchronization) and the server/TM goes offline, I'm still able to input the text, but I won't obviously be able to use the TM/TB, nor to confirm segments (so it would be a "blind" translation, which is bad in itself).
On the other hand, if I tried to open the local file while the server is offline, I wouldn't be able to edit anything at all.
As for slowdowns in segment confirmation (with TM timeout errors), it happened to me more than once when working with a "big" team of colleagues on a project, with "big" TMs (several hundred MBs each), or when the TMs started having issues of their own and required "repairing" on the client's side. | | | Contact with memoQ server? | Nov 10, 2016 |
To verify that your computer can indeed contact the customer's memoQ Server, try pinging the server address.
Open Windows' Start menu and use the little field in which you can run a program. Type cmd and press Enter. This opens am MS/DOS command line window. You should see a list of contact instances, with a certain delay in milliseconds. If you see "timeout" messages, it means that your computer cannot contact the memoQ server. The reasons could be diverse, but if you can browse any other website normally, it should not be a matter of a faulty DNS record. Your customer should check that their server is running, and should also ensure that their domain name is accessible.
If your customer has a website, you can try to see whether their website works. If it does, it must be a problem with the memoQ server alone. If the website does not work either, their DNS address could be faulty somewhere along the line. Report that to them and let them talk to their ISP to have it checked/fixed.
I hope this helps a little bit! ▲ Collapse | | | Radian Yazynin Local time: 09:51 Bazkidea (2004) Ingelesatik Errusierara + ...

I also sometimes have the export options greyed out when working in the translation tab (only Export active document as plain text is not greyed out then) . What I found, though, was that I can then still access and use the other export options by going to the Project home tab, chosing Translations, and then right-clicking on the file I want to export. | | | Anna Sarah Krämer Alemania Local time: 08:51 Ingelesatik Alemanara + ... When working with online projects, the working and master tm can be synchronized offline.
