Portuguese term

entrelinhas

Portuguese to English Science Agriculture If this helps, there is another usage of the term here:
O manejo agrícola é pouco intensificado, sendo realizado em algumas entrelinhas do sistema.

Entrelinhas usually means between the lines, as in reading between the lines, or sometimes means fine print in legal documents, but neither of those seems to make sense here. Other thoughts?
If you could translate the full sentence in your response, that would be great.

Inter-row cultivation Será?

What is inter-row cultivation?
Crop weeds: controlling small weeds | Agriculture and Food
Inter-row cultivation – the practice in which weeds in the inter-row space are controlled using tillage equipment). Please note that where retained stubble is dense, it may not be physically possible to carry out inter-row cultivation. Also, inter-row cultivation can stimulate emergence of some weed species.

What is this about? Could we have the context, please. Is it referring to an area of a country, or one particular site, or one crop? And I don't understand your comment about 'if this helps'.

inter-row, between rows, between the rows

Depende do contexto em que aparece. Essa palavra indica qualquer coisa relativa ao espaço entre as linhas de plantio. Por exemplo:

espaçamento entrelinhas -> spacing between rows / space between rows
plantio consorciado entrelinhas -> inter-row intercropping
capina das entrelinhas -> inter-row cultivation
adubagem nas entrelinhas -> inter-row fertilization

Em português se usa "entrelinhas" quando se refere ao espaço entre as linhas como um substantivo, mas pode-se também utilizar "entre linhas" e "entre as linhas", dependendo do que a gramática exige. Da mesma forma, em inglês, pode-se dizer "inter-row", "between rows" e "between the rows", de acordo com o a forma na qual a frase é montada.

liminal

"liminal", that's a nice word don't you think.

Agricultural management is not highly intensive and takes place in certain liminal areas of the system.
OR
...in the interstices of the... etc.

Or something like that.

neutral philgoddard : But what does 'liminal areas of the system' mean?

between rows / row middles

São os termos usados em um texto escrito em inglês, de uma área e contexto que me parecem semelhantes aos da pergunta [ref 1]. Também encontrei um trabalho acadêmico brasileiro em que "entrelinhas" foi vertido como "between rows" [ref 2].

Interrow

"Linhas de plantio" em inglês geralmente são traduzidas como "planting lines" ou "planting rows". O termo que encontrei para esse caso seria "Interrow" complementado com o termo "spacing", algo como "espaçamento de entrelinhas".
