In India check bouncing due to lack of funds is a criminal offence

And the offender can go to prison. If that were applicable in your case, prefer a police complaint and let the jokers spend time "counting the prison bars". (a Tamil saying for sitting in a prison) Regards, N.Raghavan

Hi, Claudia,

Hi, Claudia,

A check is normally good for at least three months. A translation company gave me a bouncing check due to insufficient fund. That means this account did not have enough money at the time you try to cash the check. The good news is that this account is not a closed account. It is a crime here to write a check from a closed bank account. I would wait a week and re-deposit if I were you. But, be sure to talk to the manager in your bank about the situation before you proceed with it, because my bank waived the charge to me for the bouncing check after I talked to their manager.
