In 1995, 5 institutions from different European countries founded the Urbandata Association with aims of:





- Spreading scientific, technical and cultural information on urban planning, transport, environment, architecture and building





- Developing common products and facilities





- Promoting exchanges between national, European and international institutions





- Developing other co-operative action on related matters





Such joint activity has emphasised the communication obstacles that arise because of language and cultural differences - chiefly when dealing with specialised subject.





A consortium, within the frame of the European project MLIS 2003, has been made responsible for studying and producing a:





Multilingual and multimedia tool, based on a lexical database of Urban planning, Environment, Architecture and Building.





This tool is called MULETA
